In 617 Hijri, the inhabitants of the city of Marv asked the Abbasid caliph for help in the fight against the Mongol Tatars. But the caliph did not try to support them!
As a result, Tatars killed 700 thousand Muslims in the city of Marv. 39 years later, it was the Abbasids' turn, and the Tatars killed nearly a million of the people of Baghdad. There was no one to support them in this massacre.
