The ultimate level of the struggle is to lay one’s life in our hands, to put that life at risk for the sake of Allah, meaning that we are doing something that is approved by Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), and they have said that this is a good thing, only then we can say that it is J1h@d fi sabilillah. If we are doing anything else, but it is not in keeping with the Islamic teachings and doing what is prohibited, then it is not in J1h@d and is haram.
