Living in a Caravan During Renovation — Unexpectedly Practical
Recently I started a renovation project at my place in South Australia. At first it was supposed to be a small upgrade, but like many renovation stories, it quickly turned into something much bigger. Walls were opened, wiring replaced, and suddenly the house became a construction site.
For a few days I tried to continue working from home while the builders were there, but it quickly became obvious that it wasn't going to work. The noise, dust, and constant activity made it impossible to focus.
Instead of renting another apartment for several months, I started looking at alternative housing options and discovered the idea of residential caravan accommodation. Some homeowners actually hire caravan units and place them on their property during renovation periods.
It’s a surprisingly practical solution. A residential caravan can function as a small temporary home while construction work continues in the main house.
If anyone is curious what this looks like, here’s an example I found:

It’s definitely not the first option people think about, but for temporary situations like renovations or relocation it can actually make a lot of sense.
