I have noticed that many people in my department and around me have started practicing Islam. Alhamdulillah, this is truly a good thing.
But do you know something?
When someone who has lived a non-religious life begins practicing Islam, their life changes significantly.
Let me give two simple examples.
[1]
Imagine you have not eaten for three days.
Your friend offers you beef biryani, kala bhuna, and sour yogurt from a good restaurant.
But your liver is damaged, so you cannot eat this food.
If you ignore your condition and eat it anyway, people who know about your liver problem may start criticizing you.
In this example:
The friend represents Shaytan.
The biryani and other foods represent the things Allah has forbidden.
The damaged liver represents your Iman and Taqwa.
Eating the food despite your condition shows that your Iman has weakened and you disobeyed Allah.
Not eating for three days is very difficult, and having delicious food right in front of you makes it even harder. Keep that in mind.
When people criticize you, it shows that society judges you because you could not resist Shaytan and disobeyed Allah. They may call you a hypocrite.
At the same time, you feel heavy and disappointed in yourself.
[2]
Imagine you are climbing a mountain.
A rock falls and breaks your leg, but you still need to reach the top.
So you start crawling.
After some time, the path becomes narrow and dark.
You feel scared.
You want to shout, but you cannot, because it might create more danger on such a narrow path.
Yet, you keep moving forward.
Why?
Because you know that your Lord, Allah, will guide you, forgive you, and show mercy, even if you make mistakes, continue to make mistakes, and keep asking for forgiveness.
