Вы можете удивиться заголовку, но вот история про слона:
Имам Малик, как обычно, сидел в мечети Пророка ﷺ, передавая хадисы Посланника Аллаха ﷺ. Вокруг него собрались ученики, внимательно слушая. Вдруг кто-то закричал: «В город прибыл огромный слон!»
Жители Медины никогда раньше не видели слонов, так как Медина не была их местом обитания. Услышав эту новость, все ученики бросили урок и поспешили посмотреть на слона, кроме Яхьи ибн Яхьи аль-Лейси.
Имам Малик спросил его:
— Почему ты не пошёл с ними? Ты уже видел слона раньше?
Яхья ответил:
— Я приехал в Медину, чтобы видеть Малика, а не слона.
Если задуматься над этой историей, можно увидеть, что только один человек знал, зачем он пришёл и какова его цель. В результате именно передача хадисов от имама Малика через Яхью ибн Яхью аль-Лейси стала основой для книги «Аль-Муватта». А что стало с остальными учениками, которых отвлек слон? История о них не упоминает.
Сегодня «слон» повторяется снова - но в другой форме, особенно в месяц Рамадан. Спутниковые каналы, сериалы, газеты и другие развлечения – это современные «слоны», отвлекающие нас. Берегись их блеска, ведь они могут украсть у тебя лучший месяц в году.

Beware of the “Elephants” in Ramadan!
You might be surprised by the title, but here’s a story about an elephant:
Imam Malik, as usual, was sitting in the Prophet’s Mosque ﷺ, transmitting the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. His students gathered around him, listening attentively. Suddenly, someone shouted: “A huge elephant has arrived in the city!”
The people of Medina had never seen elephants before, as they were not native to the area. Upon hearing this news, all the students left the lesson and rushed to see the elephant—except for Yahya ibn Yahya al-Laythi.
Imam Malik asked him:
— Why didn’t you go with them? Have you seen an elephant before?
Yahya replied:
— I came to Medina to see Malik, not the elephant.
If we reflect on this story, we can see that only one person truly knew why he had come and what his goal was. As a result, it was through Yahya ibn Yahya al-Laythi that the transmission of hadiths from Imam Malik became the foundation for the book Al-Muwatta. And what happened to the other students who were distracted by the elephant? History does not mention them.
Today, the “elephant” appears again—but in a different form, especially during the month of Ramadan. Satellite channels, TV series, newspapers, and various forms of entertainment are the modern-day “elephants” that distract us. Beware of their allure, for they can steal from you the best month of the year.
