Birthdays

One of the most peculiar holidays, in my opinion, is my own birthday. It's the day when my mother went through thousands of pains to bring me into the world. Yet, it's also the day when everyone around me comes to offer congratulations and gifts. Is it all because I'm a year older?

I haven't celebrated my birthday for the last couple of years and I guess I'm not going to do so in the future. For me, my birthday is not something like a date on the calendar; I believe I'm reborn in the day when my entire perspective on the world changed. I consider myself reborn on several occasions:

• The day I began praying.

• The day I discovered my true passion.

• The day I found my life's purpose.

• The day I read "Qur'an" for the first time, "Faith" ''ted-talks'' and other influential, game-changer books.

If I were to celebrate, it would be these days that I'd commemorate.

P.S.

Just because I don't celebrate my birthday doesn't mean I don't receive gifts on that day. :)
